The Center for Global Health Delivery, Diplomacy & Economics, a joint venture between UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, is a central hub that pulls together faculty and researchers from both universities that are working in global health implementation science and diplomacy. This consortium needed a robust and flexible website to catalog all of its projects, people and partners, along with related news and events.

Challenge

  • Complex Content Relationships: Needed to effectively catalog and interlink a wide array of projects, people, organizations, news, and events.
  • Diverse Audiences: Required a user-friendly interface that could serve resesarch institutions, governments, funders, policymakers, and global partners.
  • Geographic Visualization: The new site needed to have a visual way to browse projects by location, and to see at a glance where UC Berkeley and UCSF are working together on global health projects.

Solution

To address these challenges, Black Antelope developed a robust website using Drupal, chosen for its flexibility and strong content management capabilities. The platform's architecture was designed to handle complex relationships between various content types—such as linking faculty members to specific projects and associating news articles with relevant initiatives—ensuring that users could easily navigate and understand the interconnected nature of the Center's work.

A key feature of the new site is an interactive global map, allowing visitors to explore projects geographically. This visualization provides an immediate sense of the Center's international impact and facilitates location-based discovery of initiatives.

The interface is clean and responsive, providing a seamless experience across devices and for users with varying needs.
